Let's see if we can figure out the American leftists' and Euro-appeasers' prescription for ending terrorism:

We will not fight back and confront terrorist states, because that would only provoke more terrorism
However, forsaking offense for defense only, we will somehow protect our citizens from an infinite number of potential threats

We will try to try to understand "why they hate us" and get at the "root causes" of terrorism
However, we will not risk alienating brutal regimes, but rather curry their favor and accomodate their demands

We will seek to end the pattern of poverty in the Muslim world, which is what causes terrorism
However, we will not allow poor nations to trade freely with us, which is necessary for them to emerge from poverty

We will attempt to bring the Muslim world into the modern age
However, we will enable Muslim tyrants to continue to subjugate their subjects and prevent advancement

OK, makes perfect sense

Here is a great article on how America's economy is actually doing quite better than perceived. More importantly, it dissects the data to show that the employment picture and Americans' wealth is rather good, indeed.

Al Qaeda has won its first election and reclaimed Andalusia. The Socialists startling victory in Spain was a significant blow against the West in the war on terror, for rather than choosing to stand fast, Spaniards elected to cave in. As anyone with an ounce of common sense knows, capitulation will not provide insurance against Islamic radicals. Instead it will only embolden them. It is difficult to say whether EU President Romano Prodi's stupefying claim that "it is clear that using force is not the answer to resolving the conflict with terrorists" is simply naive or actually moronic. His language, which would call for conflict resolution as a response instead of total destruction of our enemy, belies the dangerous stance of leftists: that they would rather appease to hopefully be left alone and not fight to win. Not only does the Spaniards' vote for cowardice over courage harm their own national interests, but it fractures the coalition against terrorism and gives the momentum back to Al Qadea.
