The Administration's and State Departments support of the "Geneva Accord" both undermines Israeli democracy and repeats the fundamental failures of Oslo. Yossi Beilin negotiating with the Arabs is equivalent to Dennis Kucinich negotiating with the Taliban. By legitimizing this rogue fantasy, engineered by an unsanctioned, vainglorious and deluded Israeli politician, the U.S. government only undermines its own road map.

Furthermore, this "agreement" is essentially Oslo redux: immediate and tangible Israeli concessions in exchange for conditional and ambiguous Arab promises. Israels right to exist as a Jewish state is not recognized and Judaisms holiest place is forfeited.

Peace will only emerge when the Arabs choose to build a culture of peace and tolerance rather than of terror and hate. The messages emanating from Arab TV, radio, schools, newspapers and mosques are manifestly self-incriminating. Confusing action with progress, and promises with deeds, was the failure of Oslo, as it is for Geneva.
